Hi, this is Christa Gniadek. I’ve decided to write my own bio for this website, maidenbrainmusic.com. “Maiden Brain Music Productions” is the title of the production company I started in Summer 2009. It is the umbrella, so to speak, over all of my projects and endeavors as an independent artist.
I have kept a personal journal since I was fourteen years old. In one of my earlier journals there is an entry with a list of small goals. One of the goals reads, “Write a song”, and there’s a small box next to it for me to check off when I have completed it. Long after I forgot about that journal entry, I had written more than one song on piano and guitar. Today, I have written many songs and am currently outlining more than one album. (Check.) Now at 20 years old, I released a 6-song EP titled “Alone or Lying” in March 2009 on the internet and a 10-song full-length album titled “No One’s Dolly” in January 2010.
All of my songs are written from personal experience, but I try to make them general enough so that others can relate, which is why I don’t include names of people but rather choose to use general pronouns. The journal that was once chronicling some daily experiences of mine and my personal reactions to them has since turned into a lyric book (and a messy, beat up one at that).
I've been known to be pretty reserved and sometimes can still be shy; when I was 18 I finally began singing in front of people. I had been singing songs at that point for about three years. Before I played guitar and sang, however, I took classical piano lessons for about 9 years, from 2nd grade through high-school. The summer before I was a junior in high school I decided to try the guitar. I began teaching myself chords and humming along. Now singing and playing guitar seems like one instrument, and I have yet to find something else that makes me feel more alive.
I hope through this little bio you are able to get a feel for who I am as an artist and a person as well as sense just how much I care about my songs. I hope that my journey as an independent artist and songwriter can inspire others to try for what they want and take chances. I hope you keep listening – I have a lot more music for you in the future.
